 Sony has announced two full frame lenses at PMA2008 this year. The headliner is the SAL2470Z Vario Sonnar T* 24-70mm f/2.8 ZA, co-developed with Carl Zeiss. This gives a fast, high quality zoom lens to Sony Alpha and Minolta dSLR Dads. It should to be fantastic optically. It has to be, because when the Full-Frame Alpha 24-Megapixel Flagship comes out this year, it will turn small optical flaws into gross inadequacies.
The SAL70300G 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G was also announced. Both models feature Sony’s Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM) technology. (more…)

Digital Photography Review has posted their review of the 12 MegaPixel Sony Alpha A700 12.24MP dSLR Camera.

I love this site. If you have never visited PhotoZone, head over there now. They have posted their review of the new Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Zoom Lens (available at Amazon and B&H Photo) . Nikon announced this lens earlier this fall along with the D3 and D300 .
The Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED exceeds the already very good performance of its predecessor. The center quality is nothing short of outstanding matching or beating the resolution of a 10mp APS-C sensor. (more…)

Sigma has updated their APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM Lens. They improved the optical performance and minimum focusing distance to 100cm/39.4in and a maximum magnification of 1:3.5. Two SLD and three ELD glass elements are now used to provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations.
B&H Photo currently has the Canon mount in stock here. For those of you interested, they are available for pre-order in Nikon and Canon mounts over at the dSLR Dad Amazon Store. Of course, they will also be made available in a Sigma SLR mount. (more…)

Sigma has updated their 50-150mm EX DC HSM f/2.8 Large aperture telephoto zoom lens designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras. The new lens design ensures higher image quality at a minimum focusing distance of 100cm/39.4 in.
For those of you interested, they are available for pre-order in Nikon and Canon mounts over at the dSLR Dad Amazon Store. Of course, they will also be made available in a Sigma mount.

Tokina has also announced a second high-performance APS-C dSLR lens. The AT-X M35 PRO DX, 35mm F/2.8 Macro lens is a first in the industry. Tokina is offering dSLR Dads a 50mm film-equivalent, Pro-grade Macro lens with a short 140mm focus range. Expect shipments to retailers in late December 2007 for Canon and Nikon mounts.
